Note 12 – This test can measure the minimum expose time before the first observable corrosion mark of a corrosion resistance system.
For this purpose, the test pieces shall be taken out of the test chamber by spells according to the prescribed frequency and visual check shall be conducted to locate corrosion marks. Whether the film or treatment layer of post treatment shall be removed before the visual check of parts or small test pieces can be clarified in a special agreement.
For special phosphatised coatings, the time from the start of expose to the first corrosion mark of the test piece will vary greatly according to the different post treatment and coating grade. Therefore, the stipulations regarding the minimum expose time of phosphatised coatings that have gone through post treatment are specific according to the grade of anti septic oil, grease or wax. The coating quantity (in g/sqm) shall also be specified to determine the variance of weight.
Note 13 – The minimum expose time and test method shall be determined by both parties through negotiation.
